Tivoli Software is the service management brand of the IBM Software Group. IBM purchased Austin-based Tivoli Systems, Inc. on March 4, 1996[2] and allowed existing executive management to operate Tivoli as a wholly owned subsidiary in the IBM Software Group. (In addition to Tivoli, this IBM division includes WebSphere, Information Management, Lotus Software and Rational Software.)
The Tivoli portfolio provides organizations with the Visibility. Control. Automation. needed to deliver quality services, manage risk and compliance, and accelerate business growth. Tivoli's marketing taglines included "The Power To Manage. Anything. Anywhere.[3]

Additionally, IBM Tivoli is the market leader in IT Operations Management for the sixth year in a row, and the market share nearly doubles that of nearest competitor. [4]
In August 2006, IBM acquired MRO Software which published MAXIMO, the top-selling Enterprise Asset Management system in the market and added them to the Tivoli portfolio.
